InsideSources hosted an important Capitol Hill policy luncheon on the economic impact of freight rail investments on Wednesday.

This bipartisan event, sponsored by the Association of American Railroads, was keynoted by Senator Deb Fischer of Nebraska. (Sen. Cory Booker of New Jersey was unable to attend due to last-minute action on the Senate Floor).

These remarks were preceded by a discussion with leading economists and experts on freight rail policy and economics. Moderated by AAR President and CEO Edward R. Hamberger, the panelists offered insight on the correlation between public policy, railroad investments and U.S. economic prowess – a key point in the AAR’s second-ever “State of the Industry Report,” released earlier in the week.

Panelists include:

Bruce Sellers, The Okonite Company
Clifford Winston, Brookings Institution
Raquel Frye, Towson University
Robert Puentes, Eno Transportation Center
